Features
From viewing photos, music, videos, and txt files, to listening to music without headphones via the built-in speaker, or simply listening to your favorite playlist. This player is loaded with features. It supports JPG and BMP images; MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, and MP2 audio files; AVI (MPEG4), ASF, Xvid, and WMV w/DRM video files. The 260 runs off of either SD or SDHC cards, giving you the possibility of having up to 32GB of storage.
Battery Life
The battery life isn't quite as much as you'd get on other players but since it charges up everytime you plug it into the USB port the battery life isn't really a problem if you're continualy adding new files to the player.
Screen
The 260 features a much brighter and more powerful screen than the previous ZVUE players. However the resolution hasn't changed much (although it is still a few pixels taller than before). It has a 160 x 240 resolution (older ZVUEs had a 160 x 234 resolution). This is the same number of vertical pixels as an iPod yet half of the horizontal pixels, which gives some videos/images jagged edges upon close examination.
Sound Quality
The sound quality is very good - and gets a 10/10. However the built-in speaker is only a mono speaker, thus the quality isn't as good as it would be if you were listening through headphones. The speaker itself gets a 7/10. But it's still a very nice feature so overall we're still giving the ZVUE 260 a 9/10 in the sound department.
Design
This is by far the most well designed ZVUE player to date! All the buttons are flush with the player (as to keep from accidental pressing) and this is the thinist ZVUE yet. It is litteraly about 1/3 of the thickness of the origninal ZVUE 200a. The head phone jack and volume controls are right on top of the player so you can just slip it into your pocket and listen to music easily while on the go.
Price/Value
From the time of launch this player has constantly gone down in price. It started at about $99 and at the time of this witing is now only HALF that price ($49). For getting the best bang for your buck on a media player - ZVUE has done it again!
Interface (firmware)
The 260's interface is very simple to use and understand. There is nothing too fancy - but it's come a long way from the original ZVUE's MSDOS looking menus. You can choose to either view files directly off of your SD/SDHC card or use the player's Media Broser to automaticaly scan and organize your files for you.
